Growing up in one of the best-known German horticultural families, Wilhelm Gregg was born with horticultural talent. In 1977, during his apprenticeship in ornamental horticulture, he became national winner in the professional competition of the German horticultural youth together with Thomas Becker (today owner of Kötterheinrich Hortensienkulturen) and Carola Schiviz.
From the beginning, Wilhelm Gregg travelled internationally and furthered his education in the early 1980s during work stays in France and the USA. His proverbial talent for languages and dialects helped him to quickly gain a foothold in these countries. Already during this time, international distribution channels were established for HYGRENO GmbH, whose management Wilhelm Gregg took over in 1984.
Cultivating plants in hydroculture has become a "part of the DNA" of the Gregg family over the decades. Wilhelm's father Günter Gregg is considered the pioneer of hydroculture par excellence, and Wilhelm's siblings Marlis, Günter Jr. and Markus also developed the HYGRENO group of companies into a leading company in the sector. In 1989, Wilhelm Gregg and Robert Wacker (today at Media Concept Schweiz AG) met for the first time and worked together for decades in different areas.
As mentioned in the introduction, Wilhelm Gregg worked for and with horticulture for 48 years. He himself once said that he spent about half of this time doing "marketing work directly with the plant" and the other half working on "green marketing with a focus on labels and POS concepts". After entering the field of "green marketing" in 2001, Gregg Marketing AG was founded in 2010 with its headquarters in Nordkirchen.
Wilhelm Gregg initially started as a "one-man show" and described himself at the start as a "young entrepreneur at the age of 53". From the beginning, he worked very actively with Media Concept Schweiz AG under the ownership of Ralf and Sabine Benger. In the close cooperation between Gregg Marketing and Media Concept Schweiz, it was possible to develop the company into a well-known and established player for "advertising materials for the green industry" within a few years. Creativity, innovation, fast response times and absolute reliability were and still are the foundations for the company's steady growth.
What could be better for an entrepreneur than to hand over the results of his work to his children? This is exactly what Wilhelm Gregg has done and handed over the management of Gregg Marketing AG to his daughter Luisa Gregg.
